Everybody loves free stuff. So, what we want to do is just take a couple of minutes and talk about some top things to do in Springfield for FREEEE. Let’s GO!
Today, we are talking about things to do that’s free. No money. Zero down. First one is frisbee golf. If you have never played frisbee golf before, you’ve got to. It’s so much fun and all you need is a frisbee. All the courses are public. You can go at any point. You can Google or ask us where the courses are. The great part about this is you can take your entire family and everyone can play. You can have fun and get outside.
Next thing is Bass Pro Shops. We definitely recommend Bass Pro. A lot of you go there way too much and spend way too much on camouflage. There’s actually free stuff you can do there though. You can walk around and see all the different aquariums. You can see the turtles. You can see the bears and fish. They have a museum for the NRA, so lots of big gun collections. They actually have some really tiny guns there. I think Napoleon’s gun is inside it somewhere.
Springfield and surrounding areas have a ton of great hiking trails and walking trails. There’s lots of rivers and creeks. Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area is literally 10-15 minutes from Springfield. The rivers are beautiful - great for hiking. Get outdoors there’s a lot of beautiful scenery in the area.
Down in Branson, MO you have The Landing. It’s an awesome place to go walk around when the weather is nice. The fountains do a show every hour on the hour with music. They have concerts during the summer time. There’s great eating and shopping or you can just walk around and enjoy the sights. Who’s ever been to The Landing and not spent money though?
Next let’s talk about all the amazing parks around Springfield. There are so many of them. It’s really cool because the community has put a lot of money into these parks. Nathanael Green has the Japanese Stroll Garden and the Butterfly Pavilion. Sequiota has great trails and caves to venture into. Dan Kinney Park has really cool baseball fields. So, there’s lots of really fun parks to check out around Springfield.
A couple other attractions are the museums in the area. We have the Art Museum and they switch out all their exhibits periodically. If you are okay with a little bit of a drive - Crystal Bridges in Northwest Arkansas. They also have amazing exhibits and architecture. Recently, they added the forest light show as well.
You can go to the Farmer’s Market of the Ozarks. It’s on Republic Road and Glenstone. They open up every Saturday morning. Tons of local vendors go there. You will find local food that’s grown here in the area. Farmers will bring their meat there and it’s some GOOD stuff. Reborn Co. candles are sold there and it’s just a lot of fun. Your family and kids will definitely enjoy their time. Balloon guys are there making fun things for the kids. You will find the fountains running and live music during the summer time too.
In Downtown Springfield you’ve got the Art Walk. It’s the first Friday of every month. They’ve got a really cool path you can check out the local artists. You’ve got restaurants and coffee shops open down there as well. Super cool place to walk around looking at paintings, crafts and exhibits.
If you’ve got to cool off a little bit there’s always the lakes and the rivers. There’s so many good lakes and good rivers you can enjoy your day at. Just hanging out and swimming with family and friends for free.
Have a FREETASTIC day!
